If you want to sell and make money, you have to think like your buyer. Why are they buying from the AH? Often players buy items they can not otherwise find, rare items, or extremely hard to get items. Sometimes they might buy for the sheer convenience of it.  For example, let’s say you are trying to level up your skill one more time with your trainer in Orgrimar and you realize you are short a needed trade item. Well, you wanted to go ahead and get that next level before you go back out hunting again. So you might just run in the AH and see if someone has it.

Often people buy items because they need/want them right now and don’t feel like waiting for them. This is another reason for understanding the Buyout option. You always want to give people the option to bid or to buy now. Very often people will pay more for an item they want if they can buy it right away and not have to wait for the auction to end or worry about being outbid. This means more money for you as well so go ahead and add your buyout price.

If you are willing to spend the time to dedicate yourself to treating Auction House like a business, you will be able to make thousands in gold. The secret is this:

•    Know what items trade professions need
•    Know what items quests require
•    Know what the best gear is for Twinks (a Twink is a low-level character with Auction House purchased über gear)
•    Know what the typical prices are for the above items
•    Look for the above items in the AH at low prices. Buy them.
•    Wait for high traffic times on the AH (Friday-Sunday) and resell the items you purchased at a higher price
•    Use the Auctioneer add on to assist you in all the above
•    Do all the above every single day

Following this program you can generate thousands of gold. Those who master this will actually sway the economy of their server. Now that is power!
